Casseroles for Saint Louise House

The meals may be dropped off at Saint Louise House on Thursday, May 10 or Friday May 11 between 9 a.m. and 5p.m.

Please contact Karen Ranus via e-mail at kranus@saintlouisehouse.org to let her know what time you will be delivering your meal.

Ideally, meals will be delivered in aluminum disposable containers and will be refrigerated or frozen so that they can be placed in the freezer for safe storage until Mother’s Day on Sunday.

National Day of Prayer, May 3

Spiritual Care Committee invites you to join with other Christians across the nation in observing National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 3rd. Designated by a Joint Resolution of Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman in 1952, National Day of Prayer is the day set aside for Americans to turn to God in meditation and prayer, praying especially for our nation and its leaders.

Celebrating 40 Years in Communion, May 6

Bernie Sandberg, who will preach at both services; District Superintendent, Bobbi Kaye Jones; former pastors Jeannie Whitehurst, Cynthia Kepler-Karrer, Judy Baskin and David Stewart; former staff members Sheryl (Mann) Stack and Carolyn McCarty; and summer intern Katie Frederick. We thank god for the blessings of our first 40 years and look forward to God’s future!

Men’s Breakfast

April showers may bring May flowers, but they also herald the arrival of the April Berkeley Men’s Breakfast. This Saturday, April 28th, at 7:28 AM, the Berkeley men will gather in the CLC Fellowship Hall for food, fellowship, and inspiration from God’s Word. Come and be a part of this time. Berkeley Work Day

There will be a church-wide work day at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 24^th, and all will be encouraged to participate as able. A preliminary list of projects include: dusting and polishing furniture, cleaning windows, touching up exterior paint, trimming trees and bushes, repair or replace the courtyard bulletin board, caulk and paint cracks in the east wall of the sanctuary, clean courtyard gutters and add gutter screens to some areas (Rooms 2-3), replace any loose or warped boards in the deck, and replace the cedar buttress behind Room 3 or 6. Please come if you can and stay as long as you are able. Bring work gloves and wear close-toed shoes. The more the merrier!

Easter Sunday, April 8: Sunrise Service outdoors, 7:00 a.m., Mike Creviér preaching; Worship in sanctuary, 8:30 and 10:50 a.m.; Easter Egg Hunt for children, 9:45 a.m.

Lenten Book Studies

Signups continue for two different Lenten studies we will offer, beginning February 19 (led by Letha Peters, Chris Seay’s A Place at the Table) and on February 23 (led by Rev. Jeanne Devine, N.T. Wright’s Surprised by Hope). Those interested in Letha’s group will meet Sunday at 12:30 pm in the sanctuary to obtain books and plan the class schedule.

Young Adult Life Group

Persons in their 20’s and 30’s are invited to dinner on Saturday, March 3 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the home of Myrna and Steve Cavender, 3905 Reynosa. The purpose is to bring together individuals and couples, with and without children, for a time of fellowship. The group will discuss ongoing study and social opportunities. As soon as all classrooms are repaired, the group will begin meeting on Sunday mornings in Room 7 in the CLC to discuss Adam Hamilton’s DVD series, When Christians Get It Wrong. Please RSVP to the Cavenders (280-0963) if you plan to attend the dinner. This event is for adults only, due to space limitations.

Beginners Tai Chi Class – All Welcome!

Berkeley UMC member,Phyllis Coombes, is teaching a beginning Tai Chi class in Berkeley’s Fellowship Hall on Sundays from 4 to 5 p.m. These introductory classes are free, and may be continued with a nominal fee for participation. Health experts recommend Tai Chi for balance and fall prevention, strength training, arthritis, diabetes and improving circulation. Phyllis is a certified trainer and has been teaching for 5 years. Men and women, church members and members of the community are all welcome. Wear loose clothing and low heeled flexible shoes.
