FAQs
Visitors and new members often have questions about life at Berkeley. We hope the following list helps you find the information you need, and that you decide to give us a try!
How should I dress?
However you’re most comfortable. Some of our members wear jeans; others wear dresses and suits.
What are services like?
Our worship services are a “blended” format to allows all types of music from classical, gospel, jazz, instrumental, old and new compositions. We use the United Methodist Hymnal as well as The Faith We Sing hymnbook. Everyone is invited to participate in prayer, singing, and readings.
Is child care available?
Yes, a nursery is available for babies and toddlers during both services and Sunday school. Child care is also provided for other events as needed. If you’d rather keep your little ones with you, that’s fine too. We welcome children in worship, and rocking chairs are available in the sanctuary for parents of infants.
When can I take communion?
Communion is offered on the first Sunday of each month and is open to all people, regardless of your denomination or baptism. United Methodists believe that communion is the Lord’s table, and that whoever feels led to partake should be allowed to do so.
What Sunday school classes are offered?
Berkeley offers classes for children, youth, and adults that meet throughout the church campus. If you’re looking for a class and aren’t sure where to go, any member of the congregation would be glad to show you around.
How can I find out more information?
