United Methodist Women

United Methodist Women (UMW) is an organization of approximately 800,000 members worldwide whose purpose is to foster spiritual growth, develop leaders and advocate for justice. Women and girls of all ages are welcome to attend. Berkeley has two UMW circles which meet once a month: Women in Action (WIA), who meet on the second Wednesday at 9:30 am; and Women in God’s Grace (WIGG), who meet on the fourth Saturday at 7:30 am.  UMW members sponsor mission work, educational programs, and raise money for programs and projects related to women, children and youth in the United States and in more than one hundred countries.

Many BUMC women also participate in the UMW Reading Program. The UMW Reading Program offers an opportunity for women to grow in their understanding of scripture, God’s mission and sensitivity to all human needs. Detailed information is available at Reading Program.  For a complete list of all book for the last five years, click here.

United Methodist Men

United Methodist Men (UMM) aims to help men grow in Christ and serve others. Berkeley’s UMM group meets for breakfast at 7:28 am on the third Saturday of each month. Food, fellowship and faith discussions make the meetings lively and thought provoking. The men of Berkeley support the Wesley Student Ministry at the University of Texas and perform maintenance and repair work at the church and for our members who need help with projects.

Prime Timers (temporarily on hold due to Covid)

Prime Timers is a social gathering for seniors 55 years and older. We meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30pm with assigned hosts and hostesses for each month who take care of the meal and the entertainment or topic of the evening. It is a fun filled evening that is well attended and full of the Spirit.
